I just had a startling revalation. Do any of you remember when Crota was trying to gain power by slicing a hole in space in the High War? What if the realm that Crota cut into was 2028 Volantis?

This twisted my understanding of exo lore. Why were the ones lost in the explosion actually lost, yet the others couldve still reloaded? The original lore said the exo number was for reboots for memory issues, but this made it sound like it was all bs. What number is elsie on?

Two things: 1. Can we get Elsie to shut the arrogant bastard down again? 2. What happened to our timeline's Elsie? Because during the Born in Darkness questline, Clovis mentions something about both of them being dead, yet standing here in front of him again. I'm pretty sure all those records are from our timeline, and Elsie was alive at the end in all of them. Well, by at the end, I mean by the time that she shut the AI down, she was still alive... because, well, she was the one giving the shutdown command. So, why would the Clovis AI remark about her having been dead, but alive now in front of him? Where is our Elsie? Is she alive, or is she dead?

Man, Bungie took an otherwise unremarkable character-- a regular vendor in the Tower-- and gave him centuries of story. This is why I love Destiny; almost everyone has a purpose.

Destiny (destiny vanilla) first dropped in September of 2014, right before I turned 23YO. It was around the time Halo had finally died as THE multiplayer game as well as COD games becoming stale with ghost & trash AV Warfare. A group of 6 to 7 guys from my home town that I had been playing Halo & COD multiplayer with since 2006-07 had all switched to Destiny the first week it released. After completing all the story missions we grinded the shit out of D1, spending hours farming the loot cave in the cosmodrome & the 2nd floor chest room fallen spawn behind the stairs (obviously after the weekly NF, 3 Heroic strikes, & Heroic story mission). We even completed the vault of glass raid the on day 3 together with out looking up how to beat it. Also ran trails of Osiris nonstop getting every reward. I always had a familiar fire team to grind every activity with. I had every single world drop gear & raid exclusive gear for normal & hard. This continued all the way through the Taken King expansion. Most the guys I played with dropped the game before the iron lords expansion. I continued playing everything I could solo like NF’s & story missions, but would use the destiny app to compete raids. Almost 7 years later & I still play the game, but non of my friends in real life do. The leviathan raid was the last raid I’ve ever competed, it’s not as fun with random children on the app. Also 7 years later & older you get a career & family & can’t grind 6 hours a day like you could in D1 lol.... I’ve continued to play every part of the game except for the raids since D2 dropped. I’m missing out on the best parts of the game, but I feel no desire to complete it when the app is full of try hard smart ass children/ man babies that treat wiping in a raid like its do or die in real life 😂🤦. I miss the destiny vanilla days. Rare weapon drops was more exciting, upgrading gear a lot harder, soloing NF’s more challenging (being sent back to orbit upon death), & elemental burns actually made a huge difference depending on the enemy type & when selecting load outs. Now you can’t even get on a raid fire team unless you already know exactly what to do & are a super sweaty try hard. Back in my day all you needed was a fully upgraded Ghally or Truth to be accepted lol. Anyway... I’m grateful for your channel Byf. I wouldn’t know half of the in game lore if it wasn’t for you uploading the explanations of the story behind each raid since I quit raiding after Leviathan. Takes a hell of a lot of commitment, time, & work to be the type of lore content creator that you are as a living.

This is a great story. One question though. If exos have backups, why is Cayde dead for good? I thought since he mentioned the Deep stone crypt in Forsaken there was a chance he'd come back.

The way this video is crafted, it sounds like a rough draft to a potential short film. Only thing I would change for creative purposes in that hypothetical film is the player guardian instead being a tight knit fireteam of three guardians, one of each class. And the finale being them not only using the Lament, but passing the lone sword between each other. Maybe concluding it with Banshee presenting two more after a timeskip thanks to the blueprints.

This was Bungie going "hey we know you all love Banshee and the Exo Stranger" Us: "Don't pull another Cayde" Bungo: "Wanna love them even more?"

If I were the writer... This current issue would end in each player putting themselves and.. a handful of weapons into a stasis, for a long trip... unconnected to the current planet area. Yes, ventured out, few things to start, and ... ALL NEW for a year or two, to finish the issue there, and then.. to leave in two years back ... to new issues, new problems, and new stuff. The arcing giving sense, making new, and then renewing the old to return to. *shrug* Venturing far out with Exos makes time a non issue, except on return to find how much changed. Except.. who watched.. and followed, someone unknown.. some one looking for coming to take your home.

Really love the lore and presentation. Wish it made for filling in the fun too, nothing like this in game. And nothing much to do either.

This is some of the best lore in the entire franchise. The concept of Clovis ending up having divergent personalities after the scan and seeing Clovis-1's babyface turn was just such damn good storytelling.

That last entry to the legacy's lament is just so incredibly beautiful.

One of my favorite lore books, and that sword... That sword. Since the start of d2 i only held onto one sword the quickfang the sword Cayde 6 gave me. Lament lets me feel like I can let it rest... For a time.

Admittedly, after I visited the AI head after finishing the quest, as mean as it sounds, I really, really hope that Banshee's faulty memory prevents him from actually going to meet with the head. I felt pretty terrible after finding out there was potential that the head would reset him again and not even being able to warn him. But I guess time will tell on that one.

I’m absolutely attached to this lore due to the fact that since the beta of Destiny, I’ve always been an Exo. Titan male, to be precise. So actually going through the origins of my character, even though he is a guardian was absolutely fun. More fun is that Lament is a very fun exotic to use, not just to melt Atraks. I’ll be showing Banshee a lot more respect than I already do when I pass through the tower thanks to you Byf.

I really hope they buff or make really good options to shake up the Mets. The lore part is always a hit or miss for me. If done well like bungee normally does for these more powerful ones, yeah. If not, sometimes u just need a reason to have mindless fun

Banshee is just the most.. Humble.. Version on clovis. It sorta speaks to the core value of his persuit in legacy. It just comes down to the fact that, at base value, all Clovis wanted was to subsist. Remove the ego, and you get banshee.. Such thoughtful storytelling
