It's difficult in general to find a new kidney.

If youre a donor and you die in the hospital or taken away by an ambulance and die, thats the last time your family, spouse, partner will ever see your body. When i found this out i took my name off. I dont want to do that to my family and partner. There is no closure for them if youre a donor so make sure you talk to your family when you say yes to that.

I was once told that if your an organ donor and you become injured in a crash or whatever even if you have a chance of living sometimes they just pronounce you dead just so they can collect any organs more freshly sure it’s possible it’s just a myth but ever since that I never put organ donor on my ID

It’s just hard to get any organ in general. It’s a very long wait list and even if there is a quick available match, some organs can die before they make it.

In the U.K. you are automatically a organ donor and you have to actively sign yourself from the list my mum made me sign myself from the list

FYI it’s hard to find donors cause while one can donate a kidney most will only do it to family members or friends so if they don’t match you have to be put on a waitlist for the organ. These lists are usually long since they rely one dead donors...

Ok friends, as a blood cancer survivor I gotta say this. Blood donation is very different from organ donation. Your blood regenerates and in a healthy person it has NO and I repeat NO NEGATIVE EFFECTS whatsoever to donate blood like twice a year. You might feel a little tired for a day and that’s it. But your donated blood can get a sick person through the day and give life. Also stem cell donation is extracted from the blood, it’s the same as blood donation in terms of what happens to you. Stem cell donation also doesn’t take anything away from you body that it won’t recover in a few days with no effects on your body. And stem cell donation straight up saves lives for blood cancer patients. Often it’s their only chance for survival. So if you’re healthy please, please consider registering to donate blood and maybe even stem cells 🙏 I would not be alive without nice people out there doing it.

I’m a dialysis nurse, and we have some patients who ended up with kidney failure due to donating a kidney 20 to 25 years ago. So if you will donate you should consider the possibility.

This girl I know got a kidney "stolen." The hospital in Mexico was treating her for another underlying problem, and she was being treated and I think she was getting a surgery done. There, the doctors also removed her kidney. I don't think they sued them either.
